Getting There and Away

Bus

Vinh Yen has one bus loop that takes in the majority of the city. Buses from Hanoi will drop you at any of the many stops on the way in to town. For trips onward up to Tam Dao you can get off at the post office next to the government building posing as a French mansion opposite the lake.

Motorbike taxis can take you up to Tam Dao for $8 for the 20km trip. Taxis also travel the route for about $20.

Buses to Vinh Yen and Tam Dao leave Hanoi from Gia Lam bus depot and cost 7,000dong. Tours can also be organised from agencies in Hanoi with a private car for around $56.
