Fun things to do with kids at Changi Airport
Does your family have a long lay-over in Singapore? There’s no need to feel restless – Changi Airport has plenty of activities to keep travellers of all ages entertained.
If your little ones need to burn off some energy before a flight, each terminal has an indoor playground with slides and climbing structures. In addition to these, the public area of Terminal 1 has a forest-themed canopy playground with tunnel slides and trampolines that cost S$6 per 30 minutes of play.
In Terminal 3 you can ride the self-proclaimed “tallest slide in an airport” – a curving four-storey monster suitable for children over the age of seven. You’re entitled to one ride for every S$10 spent at Changi Airport, or there’s a smaller slide that’s free. Both slides are open every day from 10:00-22:30.
If your little ones are fascinated by airplanes, head to one of the aviation galleries found in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Not only is this a great vantage point to watch the massive A380 aircraft take off, there are lots of model airplanes and interactive activities like drawing. The galleries are open every day 06:00-00:00 and admission is free.
If your kids are nature lovers, take them to one of Changi Airport’s many indoor gardens. There are separate gardens for orchids, sunflowers and cacti, but the best is Terminal 3’s butterfly garden where the pretty insects flutter about in a walk-in enclosure with flowering plants, a waterfall and educational displays about their life cycle. The gardens are open 24 hours a day and admission is free.
To keep your tweens and teens entertained, try the Entertainment Deck in Terminal 2 with all the latest high-tech diversions including computer games, Xbox 360s, Playstations and a giant plasma screen TV permanently tuned to MTV. Changi Airport also has free movie theatres that can be found in the departure areas of Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.
No matter what age, all kids love to swim and an outdoor swimming pool can be found in Terminal 1 near the Ambassador Transit Hotel. The price to take a dip is S$13.91 per person and includes a towel, shower and non-alcoholic drink. The pool is open daily 07:00-23:00.
