While all of the sights of Taungoo proper are within the moat, most of the hotels that accept foreigners are outside the moat, a long walk or 10-minute bicycle ride south along the Taungoo to Yangon road.

The original property of the Myanmar Beauty franchise, this was in the middle of a refurb when we visited in November 2013 but we were shown one finished room and at 10,000 kyat a night it was excellent value, especially considering the hotel is far more central than other listed properties.
