Set on idyllic Kepa Island just a short boat ride off the southwest coast of Alor, French-run La P’tite Kepa delivers on just about everything we look for in a remote hippy-chic beach getaway; we loved it so much we booked a second stay before we even left the first time. In business almost 20 years, hosts Cedric and Anne run a welcoming place that, while diving focused, welcomes divers and... Read our full review of La P’tite Kepa.

Kalabahi

Kalabahi is no great shakes when it comes to accommodation. There is a decent homestay and a good midrange option, but little in between. Also, because Kalabahi is such a sprawling town, there is no one location that is a great location to stay in.

Pulo Alor Hotel
Midrange - 400,000 to 1,000,000 Rp
Jl Altar 12, Kalabahi

If you’re looking for flashy, modern digs in Kalahabi and have the budget to pay for them, then look no further than the Pulo Alor Hotel. Somewhat inconveniently located at the top of a rise at the eastern reaches of Kalahabi, the multi-storey Pulo Alor opened in April 2016 and delivers smart and fully kitted out modern rooms, some of which have good views over the bay. With a professionally... Read our full review of Pulo Alor Hotel.

Cantik Homestay
Flashpacker - 150,000 to 400,000 Rp
Jl Dahlia 12, Kalabahi

While it isn’t spectacular value, if you’re looking for a friendly and hospitable homestay, Cantik Homestay delivers the goods. Set a 10-minute walk from the waterfront, Cantik offers a selection of simple and plain rooms clustered around a small common area and parking area. The garden has a half-dozen caged birds and parrots (one of which maddeningly squawks “hello” over and over)... Read our full review of Cantik Homestay.

Jl Buton, Kalabahi

The ramshackle Hotel Nur Fitrah has one point in its favour and one only: its proximity to Mama’s Resto. With all the atmosphere of an abandoned drive-in cinema, when we walked into the restaurant all the tables and chairs had been packed away and we thought it had closed for business. As we walked out though, a friendly woman wandered out to ask if she could help and happily showed us one... Read our full review of Hotel Nur Fitrah.

Hotel Pelangi Indah
Flashpacker - 150,000 to 400,000 Rp
Jl Diponegoro 34, Kalabahi
T: (0386) 21251

Hotel Pelangi Indah is well situated and near opposite the 1000 Moko Museum, but is quite poor value for its standard. The cheaper rooms are in the main building facing onto Jalan Diponegoro, which runs through the centre of Kalabahi. These are pretty dire and well overpriced considering they have shared bathrooms. For less money you could be at Cantik Homestay, without the traffic noise and... Read our full review of Hotel Pelangi Indah.
