Where to stay in Probolinggo

Probolinggo

Most of Probolinggo’s accommodation is around the city centre with several budget to midrange options available. Don’t expect to find much above three star standard or swimming pools. A few older-style hotels offer a broad range of rooms, so it’s often worth looking at a few before deciding. Look in the quieter backstreets for guesthouses. If you are just passing through Probolinggo, it may be convenient to stay near the bus terminal, but accommodation in the city centre is generally better value.

Smack in the heart of Probolinggo’s main drag, 350 meters from the train station, grand colonial style Paseban Sena is our top pick for folks after something a little more comfortable than a basic guesthouse. Charming old-school Tentrem Hotel won’t appeal to all travellers, but this classic Indonesia cheapie is worth a look. Not only does it enjoy a terrific central city location, the range of rooms offer some of the lowest prices in town, but do look at a few—some are downright grotty while others are perfectly presentable and a great deal.
