Most accommodation catering for foreigners is located in the northern section of town where a handful of unnamed lanes run perpendicular between the beach and Jalan Pamugaran Bulak Laut. Most guesthouses are located about 150 metres from the beach, where many great night time hangout spots are. Prices fluctuate wildly dependent on whether it\'s a holiday or busy weekend so negotiation is a must.
This property located on one of the first laneways running perpendicular to the beach when walking from the bus terminal underwent extensive renovations in late 2011, making the cheapest rooms here among the best value we have seen in Java due to their cleanliness and modernity. The spring beds are comfortable and fitted with good sheets, the spotless cold water bathrooms have showers and Western... Read our full review of Bamboo House.
It’s no secret that we here at Travelfish.org are big fans of the Javanese beach resort town of Pangandaran, roughly half way between Bandung and Yogyakarta. It’s one of those places that immediately entices you to relax because of its peaceful surrounding forest, rows of beach bars and some terrific budget accommodation. These are some of the best cheap places to stay.Another magical sunset... Read our full review of Budget accommodation options in Pangandaran.
In this price range, the Century Hotel is difficult to beat and is only matched by its direct competitor next door, the Paluvi Beach Hotel. The modern rooms are tastefully accented with feature walls and interesting paintings and sport cable TVs, comfortable beds with crisp white linen and spotless hot water bathrooms with showers and Western toilets. Make sure to ask for a discount as outside of... Read our full review of Century Hotel.
For the price, this is a great deal. The sprawling Paluvi Beach Hotel commenced operation in 2012 with large modern rooms featuring terrific beds and sheets, LCD TVs and tasteful hot water bathrooms with showers and Western toilets. Located right across the road from the beach, the hotel commands a fantastic position half way between where the domestic and foreign tourists generally choose to... As far as value for money goes, Rinjani Homestay ticks all the boxes. Expect spring beds in many (but not all) of the rooms, old crappy TVs which no one will use, cold water bathrooms with showers and Western toilets and lovely porches to relax and unwind on. The direct competition to this place is across the laneway in the form of Mini Tiga, but the rooms at Rinjani are better – the vibe... Read our full review of Rinjani Homestay.
The main reason to stay at this cosy spot is for the laidback backpacker atmosphere and not for the rooms. The communal area is a fantastic spot to socialise and meet new people or simply just relax and have a beer. But you pay a premium for this vibe, as the rooms are old and the beds of the foam variety only. The cold water bathrooms have Western toilets, but they are still not anywhere near... Another good quality cheapy in the northern end of town, Pondok Allini's is incredibly clean and the floors are scrubbed regularly to keep away the unsightly stains that tend to pervade many options in this price range. Rooms are stock standard budget types, but have spring beds, TVs, unlimited drinking water and cold water bathrooms that have showers and Western toilets, moving them slightly... The Sip (Sun In Pangandaram) Hotel is one of those places that offers a 50% discount when there are no tourists in town and when the discounts are offered, it represents good value. Most of the rooms are situated around a courtyard pool which is small and pokey but good enough for a quick dip. The problem is that if there are noisy kids in the pool, the sound does reverberate somewhat and it may... Read our full review of Sip Hotel.
Villa Angela is located next door to Mini Tiga and offers rooms that are different from all others in town. The stark white buildings house massive rooms with balconies and air-con if you want it, foam mattresses on bamboo beds, clean cold water bathrooms with shower and Western toilet and a genuine homely feel. The value on offer here is great for those seeking to stay in Pangandaran for more... Read our full review of Villa Angela.
This place is a backup choice for those who either don't like nearby Bamboo House or can't get in. The cheapest rooms have spring beds with old sheets, squat toilet bathrooms and cold water showers. The air-con rooms also have centuries-old TVs that are a complete waste of space. Overall, the hotel lacks charm and this is a drawback despite the cheap prices. Standards in Pangandaran have...
