Where to stay in Dan Sai

Dan Sai

A few reasonable places to stay are located along Route 2013 to the south of town, with a handful of resorts situated a few km further east on the same road. Of those, PhuNaCome Resort appears to be a good choice if you have your own vehicle and some cash to burn. There’s also a homestay program that makes it possible for you to stay with local families in one of the remote surrounding villages; arrangements can be made at Kawinthip Hattakham, a souvenir shop on Kaeo Asa Road.

A three-minute stroll west of the bus stop, Baan Chan Bhu is a straightforward small hotel set in a modern two-storey building right next to the road. Clearly one of the oldest accommodation options in Dan Sai, the town’s flagship resort is set back from the main roads in a convenient location near Wat Phon Chai and a five-minute walk to the bus stop. Rooms spread amid drab single-storey attached concrete buildings, painted a light peach hue, and a few standalone concrete bungalows all clustered around a parking lot and rather sad-looking... Across the road and down a bit farther from the bus stop, a very eccentric older man who speaks good English runs this decent budget spot. His rooms are set in a two-storey motel-style building overlooking the hotel’s parking lot, with greenery stretching out behind. If you don’t mind the cheapo furniture and a few scuffmarks on the walls, the rooms aren’t bad value. They come with springy beds,... Read our full review of S.B. Resort.
