Khun Yuam used to have the excellent Banfarang and nothing much else so, when the crowds arrived over November and December for the Sunflower Festival, you risked having to check-in to one of the rundown, dodgy Chinese-Thai hotels in the centre of town. Fortunately a couple of decent new spots have opened, though Banfarang is still a clear first choice. Mitkhoonyoum Hotel is a decent fallback, as is Yoont Hotel opposite.
Banfarang Guesthouse offers accommodation ranging from 24-bed dorms through to deluxe wooden chalets. The property has both chalets and small three- or four-room blocks all set in a delightfully laid out and well maintained garden overlooking a wooded valley. This is your best back up should Banfarang be full. Mitkhoonyuom is located on the east side of the main highway as it passes through the centre of town, so it's convenient also for the local cafes.
