Where to stay in Khun Yuam

Khun Yuam

Time was when remote Khun Yuam used to have the excellent Ban Farang Guesthouse and little else. When the crowds of local tourists arrived in late November and December grabbing all the decent rooms for the sunflower blooming season, you risked having to check-in to one of the rundown, dodgy Chinese-Thai hotels in the centre of town. Fortunately, a couple of decent new alternatives have opened and though Ban Farang is still our clear first choice, Mitkhoonyoum Hotel is a perfectly adequate fall-back address. In that unlikely event both these options are full, try Yoont Hotel across the road which offers simple but clean rooms for 600 baht.

On a busy winter weekend or bank holiday and particularly during sunflower blooming season, our number one choice Ban Farang’s private rooms can fill up, but never fear as the comfortable Mitkhoonyoum Hotel provides a more than adequate alternative. Fortunately, Mitkhoonyoum with a central location on the east side of the main highway as it passes through town, is easy to find so you... Read our full review of Mitkhoonyoum Hotel.
