Best known but not the best
Long running and very popular -- bookings in advance are essential in high season -- Mr Charles has shifted a little upmarket from more humble beginnings, and while budget travellers are still catered to, the focus today is on the more midrange traveller.
We were unable to see a room as they were totally full both days we visited and wouldn’t let us peek in a room, but travellers we talked to spoke highly of the standard. They did note too though that there is a bit of a hard sell on doing activities through the attached agency, which has a wide variety of tours on their books such as waterfall visits and multi-day trips. The guesthouse is located a bit of a walk from the centre of Hsipaw, but is set a little off the main through road, making it a slightly quieter option. Free WiFi.
