A Kengtung institution and certainly the backpacker choice in town, Harry's has reportedly declined somewhat of late (in terms of trekking information we believe) since Harry himself passed away, but is still a very good deal for pretty reasonable rooms.
Located in a small compound on the northern edge of town, there's an old teak building with reception, sitting area, trekking information and a few basic rooms behind which lie two newer blocks housing most of their rooms. Rooms are nothing fancy but clean and comfortable and as we said, in the Burmese backpacker category, an excellent price. Rooms are fan-cooled or air-con and both come with a simple breakfast. Harry's is around two or three kilometres from the centre of Kengtung but transport is easily arranged and it's probably your best bet for finding 'join-in' treks. Staff are friendly and English is spoken (though that does go for anywhere in Kengtung). We were quoted prices in baht. Rates include breakfast.
