Hotel Grand Jade

Myeik’s best downtown option

More on Myeik

Don’t be put off by Hotel Grand Jade’s plush reception and smartly uniformed staff as rates are very reasonable.

Travelfish says:

While it is firmly midrange in price, it’s comfortable and offers well-appointed new rooms that go for under half what you’d pay for an equivalent room in say Mandalay or Bagan, so if you’re heading north, now’s the time to splash out.

Rooms at the front of the nine-storey building have views over the lake and northern part of town while to the side and rear they afford fantastic views over the harbour and islands. Their ninth floor restaurant and bar also provides exceptional 360 degree views as well as serving your very good included buffet breakfast and offering meals and drinks at other times. On top of all that, their WiFi is just about the best in town. Air-con rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with minibar, cable TV and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Bathrooms have hot water. Staff are efficient and friendly and their downstairs in-house travel agents are very helpful, even if they do add on a bit of a commission for ticket sales. Superior rooms come with balconies and huge deluxe rooms guarantee a sea view. We were quoted the below high season rates and while they couldn’t confirm, we’d expect discounts to be on offer during low season. The rates might seem pricey compared to say Thai hotels, but this is a great deal for Burma. Even if you elect to stay elsewhere sunset from their rooftop bar is a must.
