Our favourite town pick
It’s easy to stand out in Kompong Cham’s sea of dull conformity and Moon River did so by being slightly better than the other places we checked out.
This was mainly because the food on offer here was so good, but the rooms are also clean, well-presented, with fan or air-con, flat-screen TVs, and have hot water showers -- handy for washing off a day of grime after exploring the surrounds. The staff were a little bit spacey though, certainly in the evening.
Many of the rooms at Moon River don’t have windows, so if that’s a deal, you’ll want a river view, or maybe check out the nearby Mekong Crossing instead.
As elsewhere, the rooms are likely to get hot, so we’d recommend springing a little more cash for the air-con option, which at $12 a night is one of the better priced options right by the river.
