Oudom Sambath Hotel
Unmemorable, but reasonable value
Soramarith Quay (just north of Street 6), Kratie T: (012) 924 442
Oudom Sambath Hotel is a typical Cambodian hotel, with not a great deal of charm, but everything you need to get through the night.
A large building, it does offer some of the biggest rooms we saw in town, and huge beds. The best rooms are in the front, which seems to be the original building, while smaller, characterless rooms can be found in the annexe at the back. All the rooms though are spotlessly clean. An open area with seating on the top floor, offers a nice escape and views across the Mekong. Downstairs, a large restaurant is popular among visiting Cambodians, and it seems to be a popular spot with NGOs judging by the cars in the carpark. The rates are competitive, and altogether there’s nothing here to offend, or particularly remember.
