Beautiful, garden villas resort with wonderful st
Set on the hills to the east of the hustle of Banlung, Ratanak Resort has 16 romantic wooden bungalows set in lovely, mature gardens overlooking a pepper plantation and the surrounding countryside.
In addition, the resort has a pool, full-service bar and restaurant, a small business centre, shop and library. This was one of our favourites among the places that we visited, and made all the more so by the staff who were wonderfully friendly and helpful. The bungalows are romantic, with four-poster beds, wooden walls and furnishings, and carefully selected pieces of Khmer art or decoration. The bathrooms are stone-walled, with good-looking showers. The infinity pool overlooks a lush valley beyond, and is also open to non-guests for $5 a day. It’s pricier than other offerings in Banlung, but also quite a big step above them too.
