Phkay Proeunk Guest House
Very new when we visited in late 2016, pale grey, three-storey Phkay Proeunk Guest House is built over the site of an older guesthouse.

Now a good looking building, it offers spacious communal balconies on each floor and a wide parking area sets it back from the busy road.
Being newly opened, it does have a stark and rather bare feel for now, but the manager was very enthusiastic and helpful when we visited and reception had the best maps of town we came across. There’s no restaurant, so no breakfasts are available here, but a fridge in the foyer means you can have a cold one on the balcony while watching the sun set over the racetrack officially known as National Route 5.
Rooms themselves are spacious and immaculately clean, with large windows and all new decor and furnishings probably better than those at nearby Sovannphum
. Facilities include WiFi, fridge, TV, ensuite hot water showers and air-con. Half-price fan rooms are available on the ground floor, and these were the smartest fan rooms we saw in town. The hotel is located a short distance past Sovannphum at the start of Route 5.
