Paradise Bungalows - The Villas
The second to last property on the southern end of Saracen Bay — just past what some call the Khmer Pier — Paradise Villas are a quiet retreat from the world, and even from Saracen Bay, with grass-fronted bungalows looking out to sea.

The large stone and wooden bungalows are decked out with private balconies, as well as their own little patch of garden with loungers. The en-suite bathrooms are open-air, and highly distinctive (in a good way), while the bedrooms range from the quite small at the lower end, to more spacious than most of what’s available on the island at the upper end of the price range. Just two years old as of 2016, they are beginning to show signs of age (it’s a tough environment), but the sea views and direct beach access might help you to overlook this.
The location is a real boon though. Right down at the southern end of the beach, and exceeded by only one other property — for the moment — they offer one of the most secluded spots you can get on this side of the island while still sitting on white, powdery sand. The price puts it at the upper end of Koh Rong Samloem’s range, but we felt that it still represented better value than a lot of other properties. We got the distinct feeling that the prices are also negotiable during low season.
They are a good half an hour walk from the top pier on Saracen Bay, which is where the Island Speed Ferry stops. The Koh Rong Speed Ferry (the yellow boat) stops at the middle pier along the beach (a 15-minute walk), and although we repeatedly heard bad reports about the quality of the latter's service, that might be the better option if you have heavy or unwieldy bags.
