Koh Ta Kiev Bungalows is a collection of cosy, simple bungalows set along a stretch of clear beach, with a restaurant and bar.
The accommodation is more solid than the others on this side of the island, but perhaps a little less characterful too.
There are five ensuite bungalows, all sturdily constructed with thatched roofs covering tin. Each has a lounging area with pillows, beds with bamboo frames, thick mattresses, mosquito nets and a large private bathroom. The balconies are strung with hammocks for relaxed sea viewing.
Prices are negotiable -- the simple double was initially quoted to us as $15 in high season, but then offered for $10, which makes it not unreasonable compared to camping or the cost of a dorm room at the other properties on the stretch. The restaurant serves meals with prices starting at $4, and generous portions; it also sells fresh fruit like mangoes and packets of biscuits.
The surrounding pine trees mean the beach here is not picture-perfect, and there is some washed up litter from Sihanoukville, but it's still a lovely spot. Since the only pier on the beach is at Koh Ta Kiev Bungalows, day tours from Sihanoukville stop outside here and also make use of their collection of deckchairs.
