Sangker Villa

Sangker Villa

Feels like home

More on Battambang

We kind of fell in love with this place at first sight, and we promise it had nothing to do with the fact that the owner also has a business making natural sorbets.

Travelfish says:

Approaching Sangker Villa is not substantially different from stepping into someone’s home, and it turns out this is what the owners were hoping for. The rooms are relatively simple, but very roomy with some nifty touches like polished concrete shelves added in, but they’re all immaculately clean and nicely finished. With just eight rooms, you wouldn’t really feel like you’re in a hotel either.

Out back a small bar serves up an amazing included breakfast - with fruit salad, house-made bread and jam, eggs, with coffee, tea or hot chocolate - though they don’t do dinner yet, being still a young family-run establishment. The bar looks like it was made for long, rambling chats over a couple of glasses of wine or beer and we regretted not being able to test this theory out. The family-friendly atmosphere even extends to the trust they put in their guests to keep a record of any late night drinks they might indulge in. The small pool is flanked by comfy chairs and loungers, and is also the site of some weekly pool pilates classes. Thanks to its small size, the whole hotel can also be group-booked for special occasions.
