In a town where most of the accommodation offerings are barely distinguishable, Ly Hout stands out for a number of reasons.
One is the dynamic and engaging owner, who speaks perfect English. Another is the basement spa, complete with massage rooms, sauna and plunge pool. Finally, the rooms are finished and decorated to a higher standard than you’ll find elsewhere. And they’re great value too. The finishing is not boutique-hotel standard -- this is still a guesthouse in the Cambodian mould, with smooth tiles and large furniture. The rooms were bright and airy, and fairly spacious. If you’d like more space and amenities, then you could try the VIP suites. All the rooms come with hot water showers, while the pricier suite also has a bath. You don’t need to be a guest to use the spa services. The charges are $4 for the sauna ($5 for non-guests), $7 for a Khmer massage and $12 for an oil massage.
