Puri Wirata, a sprawling resort just to the west of Double One Villas I, offers three main streams of accommodation across two separate properties: -- Puri Wisata Villas to the east and Puri Wirata Dive Resort and Spa (to the west).
It's confusing and difficult to understand why they've done this, but it's easiest just to think of it all as the one resort, with the villa portion just having the far largest rooms (though they call them villas). The superior rooms are in a multi-storey building towards the back of the resort, but the brick-finished deluxe cottages, down by the pool and the surrounding water features, are a better deal. All rooms have air-con, hot water and free WiFi (pick up your scrap of paper with the password on it at reception). The decor is a bit dated but rooms are still well looked after and prices are slightly less than what you'd pay at Double One. We were not able to see inside a villa, but the grounds are considerably more spacious and we'd expect the rooms to be too. There is an attached dive centre. Check online for a discounted rate.

The place commonly referred to as Amed
isn’t a single town but a string of quaint beachside fishing villages stretching about 15 kilometres along the dry and rugged northeastern coast of Bali. It’s a world away from the busy tourist centres in South Bali such as Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud.
