Small stylish and immaculate guesthouse
Concealed behind popular Lemongrass Thai Restaurant on Jalan Melasti, a calm and serene world awaits at Lemongrass Cottages.
This small immaculate guesthouse offers 12 tasteful rooms in two double-storey longhouse blocks edging a leafy courtyard garden and small pool. Cosy light-filled rooms are spacious enough to feel comfortable, and glass-fronted doors and windows are fitted with block-out curtains for a holiday sleep-in. Rooms offer both air-con and ceiling fans for a more natural breeze.
Stylish tiled interiors feature a palette of dark lemongrass and earthy tones with solid wooden furniture, ikat bed runners, cushions and Balinese artwork adding to the homely and inviting ambience. Amenities include cable TV, minibar and a safe, as well as a selection of snacks. Pristine ensuite bathrooms offer hot-water rainfall showers, ample bench space and storage. Small private terraces and balconies are furnished with tropical-style rattan furniture, and make a pleasant spot for getting to know your neighbours or enjoying your included breakfast. If you prefer, you can eat by the pool or have brekkie in the street-front restaurant. A poolside coffee station with shaded tables and chairs allows you to enjoy a cuppa anytime.
The modest rectangular blue pool is terrific for a refreshing dip, and although the area is too small for sun lounges, a handful of beanbags allow you to laze about in the sun. If you’ve come to Bali for a surf, a surfboard rack is available too.
Although close to the busy road and restaurant, the guesthouse is quiet, although if there were some noisy guests, you’d certainly know as the area is rather small. The friendly staff said that Lemongrass Cottages generally attracts a quieter mature crowd, so it's not really suitable for party folk or young families.
If you’re after a peaceful retreat from busy Kuta, but want to be close to the action and a step away from some delicious Thai food too, Lemongrass Cottages is an excellent choice. If you like the idea of a small private retreat, and your budget can stretch a little further, consider D’Sriwing Villa Gallery, too.
