Playgrounds Resort

Our rating:

Named after the nearby surfbreak, Playgrounds has a mix of fan-cooled and air-con rooms along with a whole swag of villas running up the embankment from the trail.

At the base there’s a tempting swimming pool and restaurant, with the air-con and fan rooms in the two-storey block behind the pool. Rooms are a good size, with generously sized terraces — the upstairs rooms have fabulous views — and clean bathrooms with hot and cold water. Popular with Australians, the lack of any real beachfront means you’ll be spending a lot of time poolside. Priced a bit high in our book (particularly the fan-cooled rooms), but that doesn’t seem to be dissuading guests — we were told they were booked solid.
