Rama Beach Inn is the cheapest beachfront option along Jungut Batu that we saw. If it’s location you seek, this place is a winner, though the basic older-style guesthouse probably wouldn’t get a look-in if it was located a street or two back.

Housed in double-storey wooden bungalows fronted by a narrow sandy garden, rooms are a decent size and large windows at the front and sides let in plenty of light (and sea breeze if you wish—they can be opened). The dark wood interiors and furnishings still manage to make it feel a tad gloomy inside. Downstairs rooms are a little brighter with white tiled floors, but regardless, we’d go for an upper floor room as not only is the view better, you won’t have upstairs neighbours stomping about on the wooden floorboards.

Rooms are simply furnished with just a mosquito-netted bed and a desk, and from both it’s possible to gaze at the ocean. Rooms offer a choice of air-con or fan-cooled—with ceiling fans in some, but only a standard standing fan in others. Tiled ensuite bathrooms with cold water (and slightly salty) showers show signs of age and could do with a bit of scrub, but are clean enough.

For a digital detox, Rama Beach Inn will fit the bill, as it’s the only place on Nusa Lembongan we saw that doesn’t have WiFi, but for social media obsessed, fear not—they did mention it was only temporary. In the meantime, grab a book (you know, with paper) and settle in on the balcony or private terrace for a long lazy afternoon read and sunset sea views. If the sun gets too bright, roll down the bamboo blinds.

Breakfast is not included but plenty of warungs and restaurants line the nearby beachfront. Rama Beach Inn is a handy location to the fastboats, but is right on the beach path so gets a good deal of passing traffic, so it’s far from being the most private option on the island.

Despite its faults, we think Rama Beach Inn offers reasonable value to be able to lay in bed and see and hear the waves—the walk-in rates we were quoted were slightly less than online, but if your budget allows, consider other options. If a sea view is not a priority, Vista Huts and Nyuh Gading Homestay in Jungut Batu village offer a better deal, or if the ocean vista is your prime concern Yogi Beach Bungalows is higher priced but superior value.
