Set a short walk from Mushroom Bay, this toy-town village of cute whitewashed bungalows had only opened its doors two days before we dropped by in July 2107. One section is newly built, the other a reno of their older hotel. Wooden paths weave around the grove of palms and fragrant frangipanis dotted with carved stone lanterns and lead to the individual bungalows and two swimming pools.
Bungalows are a mixture of wood and brick, single, duplex and triplex, but all have been giving the distressed whitewashed look that is the flavour of the month in Nusa Lembongan. Unless you are travelling with a group of friends or family, request one of the standalone bungalows, as noise carries between them.
Tastefully decorated interiors offer ample space to practise your nutcracker (or any other toy-town ballet) and are outfitted with both air-con and ceiling fans, a trend we approve of, being fans of the fan. A big bouncy mosquito-netted bed makes an ideal resting place for the ubiquitous towel swans.
Additional comforts include bedside tables with lamps, along with ample storage and bench/desk space and some bungalows incorporate natty built-in day beds, which could easily sleep an extra bod. Mod-cons include a small safe, minibar, tea- and coffee-making facilities and a TV. Roomy and stylish semi-outdoor ensuite bathrooms provide a hot shower with your sky-gazing.
Wide furnished balconies are an ideal spot to laze or join the reclining Buddha by the larger (but not so big) swimming pool on one of the shaded sun loungers. If that’s too crowded, head to the other slightly smaller but equally enticing pool.
Reception staff were charming and seemed very excited with the opening; let’s hope the enthusiasm continues. Breakfast is included in the rate, which make this terrific hotel even more appealing.
