More on Sanur

If you’re planning a longer stay in Sanur, or are travelling with kids, S’cape Condotel is worth a look.

Travelfish says:

Sixteen double-storey serviced townhouses edge a 22-metre lap pool in a narrow tropical garden, situated in an excellent central location behind Cinnamon Restaurant at the northern end of Jalan Danau Tamblingan.

Layouts are identical with spacious living areas downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. Interiors are tiled and air-con cooled, and glass-fronted doors on both levels can be opened to let in the breeze and offer views over the pool and gardens (and directly into the rooms opposite). The living space incorporates a lounge area (which could sleep extras), dining area and fully equipped kitchen, all open plan, and a toilet (not open plan!). Up a rather steep flight of stairs is the bedroom with ensuite (including an additional toilet) and a small balcony. The style is modern, perhaps a tad tired but smart enough, with matching stained dark wooden furniture throughout. TVs in the living area and upstairs bedrooms are small old box style, and could do with upgrading, but you’re still able have a movie night—there’s a DVD player in the living room and a library of DVDs to choose from. Rooms are clean and functional with plenty of storage and a safe for valuables. The ensuite bathroom offers ample space too, but the hot-water shower is directly over the tub which is high with wide sides and may be difficult for some people to get in and out of.

The pool area is lovely and shady, but doesn’t get much sun if you’re after a tan. There are only four sun lounges, all that the narrow space will allow. WiFi is included, but breakfast is not. If you don’t feel like cooking, you’re spoilt for choice with good eateries nearby. Staff are friendly and can arrange transport or set up extra beds and cots on request, a good option for families. Alternative places that offer kitchen facilities include Kembali Lagi Guesthouse, Kolonial House and Flashbacks.

Sally spent twelve years leading tourists around Indonesia and Malaysia where she collected a lot of stuff. She once carried a 40kg rug overland across Java. Her house has been described as a cross between a museum and a library. Fuelled by coffee, she can often be found riding her bike or petting stray cats. Sally believes travel is the key to world peace.
