Hidden behind Pepito Supermarket on Jalan Petitenget, Ivory Resort offers a range of smart clean modern-style rooms in a low-key, relaxing, leafy setting, ideal for a quiet break. .

After passing the on-site spa and gym, the resort opens to a sparkling blue, mid-sized swimming pool edged with topical foliage and a handful of umbrellaed sun lounges around wooden decking. Nearby a spacious and cool tiled air-con lounge is decked out with comfortable couches, tables and chairs, boardgames, books and a computer room. .

Beyond the pool, the guest rooms line a path canopied by vegetation and leading to another smaller “private” swimming pool, shared by the three one-bedroom “villas” at the end. Tiled air-con interiors offer a contemporary Asian ambience with whitewashed wooden furniture and a cool neutral palette. Flatscreen TVs, minibar and tea-making facilities add modern convenience, and suites and villas include kitchenettes and washing machines. .

Friendly staff mentioned that they plan to procure washing machines for all rooms in the future. Ensuite bathrooms continue the modern-tropical style and clean streamlined mood and provide hot-water rainfall showers. Deluxe and studio rooms enjoy a wide private terrace furnished with a daybed facing the pathway, but secluded by greenery, so not much of an outlook but a pleasant nook for a read. Bamboo blinds offer additional privacy to this outdoor living room. We were impressed by small details that included bottles of wine and jars of sweets for guests in the suites and villas. .

Although breakfast is not include in the quoted rates, it’s available for an additional charge. Besides the spa and the gym, bicycles for hire are at hand for exploring the surrounding area. .

Ivory Resort is handy to plenty of local restaurants, and for self-catering the supermarket is at the door. A little further along the road, Bali Ayu Hotel offers large older-style rooms (some a little tired) for similar walk-in rates, however discounted online deals may make this a reasonable value option for the area too.
