Central but poor value
Hotel Pelangi Indah is well situated and near opposite the 1000 Moko Museum, but is quite poor value for its standard.
The cheaper rooms are in the main building facing onto Jalan Diponegoro, which runs through the centre of Kalabahi. These are pretty dire and well overpriced considering they have shared bathrooms. For less money you could be at Cantik Homestay, without the traffic noise and with your own (okay, cold water) bathroom.
The better offerings are the VIP rooms that run in two rows back behind the reception area, overlooking a small lawn garden. They’re okay, but for not really that much more money you could be in a smart room at Pulo Alor.
Hotel Pelangi Indah occupies the pricing middle-ground in Kalabahi and that would be welcome if their rooms were good—but they’re not—so we’d suggest paying more and staying at Pulo Alor or less and staying at Cantik.
The nearby Hotel Nusa Kenari is another option in the unlikely event that this hotel is full.
