If a smart contemporary midrange is what you’re after, look no further than D’Anaya Hotel, one kilometre to the botanical gardens and much better value than hotels facing the park.

Built around a courtyard swimming pool, the modern multi-storey block sits on the corner of a busy road, so choose an internal facing room for a quieter sleep. Deluxe rooms are spacious and Suites are capacious and unless you need room for a crowd, the deluxe rooms have a better layout. Decor is in tasteful neutral tones with pale tiled floors and dark wooden built-in furnishings.
Clean and comfortable, everything is at your fingertips as you would expect in this business style digs. Facilities include bouncy beds, a decent sized flatscreen TV, mini-fridge, air-con and tea kettle. Simple sleek and clean ensuite bathrooms are equipped with hot showers or a tub in the suite. Small unfurnished balconies overlook the pool or the street, some offing views of Mount Salak.
The swimming pool is smallish, but adequate for a cooling dip or catching the sun on one of the handful of lounges on the wooden decking (be quick). Frangipani trees add a touch of green and a waft of tropical fragrance. An ensuite restaurant offers buffet style local meals and your included breakfast with room service available, but a number of good local eateries are close by too.
Front of house staff were bend-over-backwards friendly and immediately offered a generous discount from the published rates, but a quick check online offered even better value. If something a tad more upmarket and glitzy appeals, check out The Mirah, or not yet opened when we visited (although we had a sneak preview of the rooms), The Melchior located inside the botanical gardens.
