More on Togean Islands

The newest kid on the Kadidiri block, Harmony Bay sits on its own bay around to the west from the main cluster of resorts on Kadidiri and offers a range of accommodation options.

Travelfish says:

The resort sits on a pristine strip of white sand, enjoying a shallow drop off to a sprawling coral garden. There are plenty of shade trees along the beach, lazy chairs dotted around the place and even a volleyball net for those who tire of just doing nothing. The beach is west-facing, and the sunsets here must be brilliant.

Immediately behind the shade trees is a single row of Harmony’s most luxurious rooms, a series of oversized bungalows with plantation-style wraparound balconies with pre-strung hammocks and lazy chairs. Harmony was full when we visited, so we were not able to see inside any room—but we did spy from an open door a double bed with a white mosquito net dropping down from the four-poster frame inside. Further back is the private bathroom, with Western toilet and rainshower, we were told. The overall look of these rooms is quite appealing, but there is only so much balcony space you need to string two hammocks and a table setting; some of the deck space does feel a bit wasted.

On the second row are what the resort calls its standard bungalows. These are more typical island fare, with sloping veranda lazy chairs and a hammock, bed with mosquito net and a Western toilet and shower attached. According to their website there are also two economy rooms which we were not told about when we visited. These are contained in a single duplex bungalow with a shared Indonesian-style bathroom.

The resort also has a large raised restaurant to one side, where all meals are served. There is also an information desk here and apparently tours and diving can be arranged. We say apparently because we found the staff quite difficult to get any information out of regarding, well, just about anything about the resort (other than they were full and we couldn’t see any rooms).

Harmony Bay is well situated for those who don’t want to stray too far from Wakai but are not interested in getting enmeshed into the scene over on the busier side of Kadidiri. Despite apparently being full the day we visited, we only spied one guest (who appeared to be extremely relaxed!), so we imagine this will appeal to those looking for a very sleepy beach break.
