Kuta Mara is one of a clutch of new, flashpacker-orientated hotels going in along Jalan Raya Kuta -- they deliver in creature comforts with a pool at not unreasonable rates.
They were still building the restaurant out front when we visited in January 2015, so the rates we were quoted did not include breakfast -- rates may increase somewhat once they’ve finished building. But even with a small increase, the rates are a steal. Two types of rooms are on offer at Kuta Mara: single storey rooms in two rows facing one another over the lap tool and then, at the rear of the resort, more rooms in a multi-storey building. We stayed in a poolside room -- it was a good size, with a spotless hot-water bathroom. All rooms are air-con and there is WiFi throughout. There was no TV or other fittings in the room, but they may be on the way. This is a compact property in the heart of Kuta’s "restaurant scene" and, at the rates we were quoted, very good value.
