The friendly family-run Kita Garden offers decent value for its standard in an off-the-beach location.
Set towards the southern end of Lakey Beach (follow the trail between Fat Mah’s and Lakey Beach Inn), this Australian/Indonesian run place has a handful of longhouse-style rooms along with a freestanding room in a lush lawn and garden setting. By Lakey standards, this is a good deal -- rooms have private bathrooms, air-con and flatscreen TV. Keen surfer Colin and his wife Ramah are friendly and chatty hosts and they provide solid surfer fare in the small guesthouse restaurant. Rooms in the longhouse are split level, with a double bed on the ground floor and a second bed upstairs, making it a good option for small families or travelling groups. The gardens are well loved and we found the owners to be helpful with advice for onwards travel and sights to see in the surrounds. If full, neighbouring Vivi’s Lakey Peak Homestay is a solid option and similarly priced.
