Popular and affordable
One of the more popular places to stay, Santai’s restaurant enjoys an absolute beachfront location while the rooms, in a couple of longhouses, are set back across the lawn and past the grazing cows.
The fan-cooled rooms are functional but otherwise forgettable. High firm beds with mosquito net are accompanied by a cupboard in an otherwise empty room. Bathrooms are clean and equally functional -- cold water only with a Western loo and not much else. Rooms have a shared veranda, with deck furniture, where you can relax, spy the ocean in the distance and chat with your neighbours. The restaurant offers typical guesthouse fare and has a pool table and great views over the ocean. Service -- like the smiles -- come slow, but this place is fine if similarly priced Villa Surga or Yo Yo’s Beach Homestay are full. Rooms come with either private or shared bathroom and are priced accordingly.
