Fantastic flashpacker value
Tha Heua Me Guesthouse sits at the crosshairs of the action, right on the Mekong just down the road from the morning market, night market and main town intersection.
It’s a busy but convenient location. This place feels similar to many guesthouses along this road in the $50 price range, but Tha Heua Me is half that price. It’s a popular family-run guesthouse featuring wooden floors and tastefully styled rooms. Rooms are bright and airy, have air-con, hard beds with average linen, WiFi access and hot water bathrooms with Western toilet. It’s a polished kind of place and although you don’t get breakfast or much service, there is at least free tea and coffee. This is a pretty good guesthouse at a great price. For the upper-budget to flashpacker price range, the value on offer here is difficult to beat.

After falling in love with sticky rice and Mekong sunsets, in 2011 she uprooted her life in Toronto to live la vida Laos. She’s travelled to over 40 countries and harbours a deep affection for Africa and Southeast Asia. In between jaunts around the world, she calls Laos and Vietnam home where you'll find her traipsing through rice paddies, standing beside broken-down buses and in villages laughing with the locals.
