Decent budget option
A cheap air-con guesthouse close to Wat Aphai, Vilayluk Guesthouse stands out as a place of fair value in a town full of less than stellar backpacker options.
The rooms are spartan, the blankets on the bed a bit drab, the lighting dim, but what you do get is a clean room with air-con, hot water wet-room style bathroom with Western toilet and free WiFi. Like most guesthouses at this price range, you basically enter through the family’s living/dining room and small convenience shop. The family can often be seen out the front sharing a meal and they are there to help guests out with any requests. The location close to the bars, restaurants, Phousi Hill and Nam Khan River is convenient, plus the main street, night market and the centre of town is just a seven-minute walk away.
