Come for the views
There are two types of rooms at Villa Merry I: those with views and those without, and you definitely want the room with the view -- otherwise it’s not worth coming this far out for a mediocre room that costs $30.
The rooms overlooking the Nam Khan are worth the 10-minute walk from town. These rooms boast large wooden beds with hard mattresses, air-con, free WiFi and clean hot water bathrooms with showers that look like space capsules. The rate also includes a hearty breakfast. But the winning feature is the fabulous balcony, a tranquil spot overlooking the river. There’s no better place to unwind and few people are able to enjoy the Nam Khan so privately so close to town. The rooms feel shabby and are in need of TLC, and we’re also not fans of the grimy looking carpet in the hallways. But if can overlook the wear and tear, consider coming for the views.
