In Attapeu there’s not much choice when it comes to decent, good value accommodation for budget travellers which may explain the rates at longstanding Dokchampa.

The hotel has higher prices compared to most of the budget places that hover at 100,000 kip, but it does possess more charm than your average Viet-style joint and for that little bit of extra comfort you will pay a premium.

There are two room types. Those in the older one-storey brick motel block feel cramped because there is only a back window and the room is packed with handy, albeit heavy wooden furniture, including a long table, drying rack, and some even have a bedside table.

Rooms in the newer wing, a large three-storey building at the back, are very modern and have upgrades such as flatscreen TV and shower stall. This is a good option for those with cushier budgets. Both have air-con and hot water bathrooms.
