Down towards the Mekong River on the same road as BK Guesthouse is a simple but modern guesthouse called Vieng Kham.

Set around a patch of bare, rocky earth, the rows of rooms look like nothing much from the outside but are quite clean and spacious on the inside. Facilities include optional air-con, tiny TV, spring bed and pokey hot water bathroom. The staff were fast asleep when we arrived and took some waking, but were helpful once roused. Not a bad option in the unlikely event that BK is full.
