We consider
BK Guesthouse to be the top pick for backpackers—it’s homey and staff speak English—but Latsamy does have one bonus: It’s adjacent to a local eatery that serves both noodle soups and rice dishes. If Paksan is merely a place to crash, here is a convenient place to sleep, feed and go.
Other than that, there is nothing exceptional. It’s a concrete and tile construction. The rooms are respectable, having more of a hotel feel than that of a guesthouse. Beds have spring mattresses, the room has air-con, large wall-mounted towel rack convenient for drying some clothes and a small wet-room bathroom with hot-water shower. We’d recommend BK Guesthouse or
Saymongkhoune Guesthouse first, however, those travellers unconcerned about a more personal experience and warm, fuzzy hospitality can easily throw down their pack here for a night.
Latsamy lies west of the bus station and market, just 300 metres north of Route 13 on Road 4B (road leading north to Muang Khoun).
