Room with a view
One of three relatively large, higher end properties on Don Khong whose main business comes from tour groups, Pon Arena is noteworthy because some rooms are right on the banks of the Mekong, while the restaurant and infinity pool command expansive views of the water.
The Mekong rooms are the highest category, and those that are upstairs rooms come at a premium due to the private balconies—that outlook onto the Mekong really is something and it really is the highlight. These rooms come with flatscreen TV, air-con, minibar, desk, kettle for tea/coffee, safety box, hairdryer, big plush beds and big modern bathroom.
The downside is the size—they are in fact too large and despite the copious amounts of hardwood furniture and added sitting area, it still feels rather awkwardly empty. When comparing room interiors, we actually prefer the Deluxe and Standard rooms. These rooms are in a building across the road have the same general amenities, are cosier, classically comfortable at a more realistic price.
All guests have access to the plunge pool, WiFi is available in the restaurant and there is English speaking staff. Breakfast is included in the tariff.
