Service Guest House

This place doesn't have a proper name but a sign out on the main road dubs is 'Service Guesthouse' which is just the Laotain way of indicating that tourists should stay here and it's not just a short-time place or a flop house.

Photo of Service Guest House We've heard it called The Bamboo Guesthouse and the staff here said we could call is the Phou Si Guesthouse if we wanted to -- the name roughly means 'the colour of the mountain.' The rooms are clean, basic wood bungalows with shared, cold-water baths. There's a restaurant on site, and two circular salas with thatched roofs that offer a nice view of the nearby Nam Theun river while dinning. Expect this place to be in a new location some time in 2007 as the river valley it sits in is inundated by the local hydro-electric dam project.
