Shinsamai Guesthouse looks great from the outside and once inside, is just okay.

Rooms are fan cooled and come with the option of air-con. All have a TV with local channels, a ton of busted furniture and light fittings that work sporadically. The hot water bathrooms are clean and come with Western toilet, but check to see if your shower works first. It’s a strange place in that it doesn’t look old, but everything seems to be broken. Still, it’s one of the better places to stay in town and is fine for a couple of nights. From the bus station, turn left and walk for about 200 metres.
