The diabolically named Taohsavanh Xaihoungheuang Hotel is one of the better options in Salavan town, though it lies in the outskirts 350 m south of the bus station.

The relatively distant location may be worth it compared to what else is available in town, but it is best suited for those on their own transport since it’s two kilometres to the centre and market from the hotel.

The bland rooms are located in duplex concrete bungalows. They have tile floors, wood wainscotting, box TV, mini fridge, wardrobe, windows, air-con and hot water bathrooms with Western toilet. It’s all decent, if a bit dated. Expect a quiet, low-key stay.

If arriving on Road 20, coming from the south from Tad Lo, you’ll see the hotel compound on the left hand side just before the junction to turn east into town.
