Footloose Homestay

JB's only backpacker accommodation, this hippy hideaway won't win any points for tidiness but its homey vibe and low prices keep travellers coming back for more.

Photo of Footloose Homestay The funky 70s-styled house has a four-bed dorm (no bunks) and a big private room with a double bed but little else. There's a kitchen, book exchange and a big garden to kick back in and enjoy a couple Tiger beers. Your host is the affable Hakimi, a music-loving native of Borneo, and his menagerie -- the roosters will ensure you're wide awake in time to catch that early bus. Footloose Homestay isn't in the city centre, but it is an easy 10-minute walk from the Kota Raya bus terminal or a 7 ringgit taxi ride. They could benefit from a better sign, but it sort of says Footloose Homestay on the front gate.
