Panorama Langkawi Country Resort

Panorama Langkawi Country Resort

Chilled country vibe

More on Langkawi

If staying amid nature is a priority for you, Panorama Langkawi Country Resort may fit the bill. This newly refurbished, sprawling resort is nestled at the base of Gunung Raya and has a laidback country appeal that you won’t find elsewhere in Langkawi, with modern amenities at pretty affordable rates.

Travelfish says:

You won't see plastic chairs on these balconies.

Not a white plastic chair in sight.

The resort’s practical architecture reflects a subtle fusion of colonial and traditional Malay style, lending it a slightly modern home-stay feel, though facilities are beyond your typical one. The up and downstairs units are generously spaced, allowing most to have a view of the pool and manicured grounds. Although we were told the refurbishing and upgrading is ongoing, there was no visible evidence of construction work when we visited.

The simple yet snappy rooms come in three selections, from the twin singles basics to the superior rooms equipped with TV, WiFi and mini-fridge. Family rooms that sleep up to five are also available. All rooms come with hot-water showers, air-con and private balconies. Breakfast is offered for an additional fee.

This relaxing decor works for us.

Simple but smart.

The pool and community barbecue pit are the centrepiece of the family-friendly resort with ample space for energetic children, who can also hang out at a smaller designated pool. Along with the lobby common area, there’s an on-site restaurant as well as an open-air bar and TV lounge.

Despite the presence of children and a lobby TV, the relaxing sounds of nature seemed to have the edge — it’s quiet!

A tropical swimming pool is always a bonus.

Located across from Kampung Buku (Book Village) and Mardi Agro Technological Park, the resort not only offers a jungle at your doorstep, it also offers the cascades and cool pools of the nearby Lubok Semilang waterfalls and some easy jungle trails that wind along the river.

Be warned that the resort is not within walking distance to shops or restaurants, but if you have your own wheels you’ll be fine. The resort is 10 minutes’ away from the pristine sands of Tanjung Rhu and 15 minutes from Kuah Town as well as the airport. The nearby village of Ulu Melaka has several sundry shops and small markets as well local restaurants and a popular Monday night market. Taxis can easily be called too and the resort does offer a free pick up and delivery shuttle service from the airport or ferry terminal.
