Spacious and calm
Dreamtel sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb — it’s the tall multi-storey building next to Padang Merdeka, right behind the long-distance bus station.
This 160-room midrange three-star hotel offers good value rooms.
None of the standard rooms here have windows, so go for a superior or deluxe. The higher up the floor, the better the view. All rooms are air-con with hot-water contemporary style bathrooms. The deal includes all the standard facilities plus free WiFi and a buffet breakfast. The restaurant also offers room service. Modern styled rooms have earthy tones. Large picture windows let in lots of light and have thick dark curtains for when you want a sleep in. Black coloured built-in furnishings house a fridge and TV and provide some desk space. Bedside tables are built into the headboard, which contains reading lamps. The rooms provide plenty of hanging and storage space for luggage. Beds are firm and comfortable with smart contrasting white linen. Everything is clean, and the space is calming. Dreamtel is a smoke-free hotel. It’s popular with tour groups, and seems busy, so it would probably be wise to book ahead.
