She’s apples mate
We almost didn’t enter Green Apple Boutique Hotel, as their foyer looks a little cheap and nasty, with stark white tiles and apple-green reception desk.
But we are glad we did, as the rooms are very good.
Opened in early 2015, Green Apple was still looking brand new in March 2016 when we stopped by. There are a mix of double, twin and family rooms, with and without windows. Windows in the standard rooms are small, and some are frosted, so you can’t see out, but all can be opened to let in air. The family rooms are the brightest with windows along the front. Rooms are stark bright white, with touches of green decorated in a tasteful modern style. A back-lit panel with apple green leaves forms the bedhead and continues across the room in some. Beds have thick springy mattresses and two firm pillows per person. Linens are crisp white striped with bottom sheet and duvet, but no top sheet. switches are within easy reach, and the illuminated bedhead is useful for reading.
Facilities include a flatscreen TV with cable channels, hot drink-making facilities, a small desk and chair, hooks and hangers for clothes, hairdryer, air-con and free WiFi. All rooms are non-smoking. Bathrooms are frosted glass cubes and are shiny clean with black-and-white tiles and modern fittings. Hot-water showers have two shower heads, so you can choose between a rain shower or handheld. Toiletries and two fluffy white towels per person are provided. Family rooms are particularly well set up, with the bathroom dividing the two sleeping areas, almost like adjoining rooms, but there is a connecting hallway. However, the TV is in the double bed section, so kids may be joining you there anyway. No breakfast is included, but good food options are nearby. The hotel has several storeys and there is no lift, so this wouldn’t be suitable if you are less mobile. Green Apple Boutique Hotel is an excellent value flashpacker spot. We hope they keep maintaining the current standard of cleanliness.
