Sepilok B&B

Sepilok B&B

A bit of everything

More on Sandakan

Close to the Rainforest Discovery Centre, friendly and long-running Sepilok B&B offers a good mix of accommodation from camping and dorms to private chalets punctuating lovely extensive grounds that attract a variety of birds and butterflies.

Travelfish says:

Older style First Lodge offers cheaper and very basic dorms and doubles, but dorms at Nature Lodge Sepilok are less expensive, and better, and the newer four-bed air-con dorms that share with the private rooms in double-storey Hornbill Lodge are better value here. Both dorms and private rooms are spotless, spacious and airy. Decor is a little no-frills, but cool jungle tones give the tiled rooms a calming effect. Basic ensuite bathrooms are clean and equipped with hot showers. Go for an upstairs room, where from the furnished private balcony you’ll have a lovely view of the surrounding spacious grounds. For camping, open-air huts are available or it’s BYO tent—grounds get soggy during the wet season. Other chalets are more suitable for families or groups and offer lounge rooms, TVs and self-catering facilities.

Free WiFi is only available in the restaurant, and a simple buffet breakfast is included. The attached open-style restaurant offers local and Western fare at reasonable prices and can put on a buffet on request. Sepilok B&B is popular with groups and often booked out.

Sally spent twelve years leading tourists around Indonesia and Malaysia where she collected a lot of stuff. She once carried a 40kg rug overland across Java. Her house has been described as a cross between a museum and a library. Fuelled by coffee, she can often be found riding her bike or petting stray cats. Sally believes travel is the key to world peace.
