Comfort and class
Located on the same road as Py Aoy Longstay but a little closer to Bang Nam Phueng village, we would classify Phuengnang somewhere between guesthouse and resort.
It doesn’t fit our definition of homestay thanks to its comfortable private rooms in traditional Thai style attached bungalows. It appears to cater mainly to weekending Thais from Bangkok but is a fine option for flashpackers and families from anywhere. Rooms are simple but charming with hardwood walls and floors complimented by soft white curtains. Each comes with air-con, fans, modern hot water bathrooms, TVs, fridges, free WiFi, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, desks and rocking chairs, and large front porches. The bungalows are clustered around a pleasant patio filled with tropical plants and traditional Thai decor, but seeing as rooms are close together it’s not the most private of settings. Still, the surrounding area is quiet, bicycles are free for guests and the open-air veranda with views into the forest looks to be a great place for a meal selected from the extensive Thai food menu.
