With national park protected mountains stretching for miles behind it, Buddy House is set in a quiet yet convenient spot that makes sense for those who like to explore by motorbike.
It's owned by the legendary Mr Pook, who speaks perfect English and is known for treating his guests like good old buddies. Bungalows come in a few different styles, but our favourites are the classic stilted wood and bamboo fan editions set at the top of the hill. These are rustic but well kept, with soft mattresses, screened windows, hammocks on large porches, hot water bathrooms and TVs. Larger concrete bungalows come with air-con and fridge. A cooking area is provided so that guests can cater for themselves, with particular emphasis placed on Muslim-friendly facilities. Buddy House also supply tents, rent out motorbikes and offer free WiFi. Buddy is the original bungalow joint on this quiet inland side lane, but if it's full, a couple of other low-key budget spots now offer simple huts nearby.
