Lazy Republique Villa

Our rating:
4 stars, based on 1 expert review

Set amid a quiet, green hillside on the inland side of the road as you enter Bailan from Lonely Beach, this French-owned spot has five contemporary-styled villas that have drawn rave online reviews.

The rooms have massive glass windows that bathe polished concrete walls and floors with natural light. Though the interiors are on the spartan side -- just a desk and fridge for furnishings -- beds and sheets are of a high quality and all of the appliances are new. We were perhaps expecting a bit more given the excellent reviews we'd read before visiting, but there's no doubt that this is a classy spot which offers great value. After dark, the lobby/lounge that seems to float over the grass like a moored dock is lit up with soft lanterns and tasteful music. Advanced bookings are recommended. If you fail to do so, neighouring St Tropez also has a Mediterranean vibe to go with a tiny swimming pool and less-inspiring rooms at similar prices.
